      I think it’s a collection of ideas about how the universe works that, as far as we know, are true. It grows as people have new ideas (hypotheses) that are tested in experiments. It can be on an extremely large scale, i.e. the expansion of the universe, on a very small scale, i.e. what happens within the nucleus of an atom and every other scale in between. As people, it furthers our understanding of everything around us and helps us build a better life.
