      Hi,

We didn’t directly evolve from monkeys and apes. From fossils we can see that about 8 million years ago ourselves and apes had a common ancestor– but after that our evolutionary trees break away. In that break, apes and monkeys continued to evolve one way and we then started evolve another way– which is why we don’t look exactly the same and why we all still exist as different species. 🙂

Man evolved from a different lineage of apes i.e. homo erectus
