• Question: do you think some doctors/GP are not very good and give people the incorrect drug because they get paid to sell the drugs so they try to persuade you into taking it by trying to scare saying you have diabetes although they haven't shown any proof.

      Hi Ella,

As with every job, some doctors are good at their jobs and some others aren’t. I don’t think there are doctors that would give someone the wrong drug (because this could cause harm to the patient and it is illegal). But there are a few doctors that would persuade you to take a drug that you don’t necessarily need. It won’t cause you any harm, but you could do without it.

For most common diseases, there is a variety of drugs to choose from. One of them may be better than the others, another is more expensive (and not necessarily the best one). Unfortunately, there are some doctors that would give you a particular drug, which is not the best one, but it is the cheapest. Or even worse, they would give you a drug that probably is not the best one, but the doctors will get some money from the drug company that makes it, if they sell this drug to patients. This is of course illegal and fortunately does not happen very often.
