Yes, I get bored sometimes. I think most people do. Sometimes I have to do stuff I don’t want or don’t enjoy doing. However, the good bits far outweigh the boring or annoying bits!
Honestly, no I have never been bored of my job. Everyday is so different and quite flexible. Yes, there are times when I have to do something really repetitive like pipetting which can be boring but I just stick the radio on and start singing! Thankfully, so far, I have never got up one morning and thought ‘I really don’t want to go to work today’ which I am sure would happen of I was doing anything else.
Yes. As with any job, there are bits of science that can be a little boring– like cataloging samples in the freezer, writing labels on 100+ tubes… But to balance it out, science has some really exciting moments too that make getting through the duller bits so worth it!
The great thing about working in science is that no two days are the same– so you tend to only have short spaces of boredom.
Yes, I get bored sometimes. I guess it happens with every kind of profession. But in general it doesn’t last for long, working in science is fascinating and unpredictable!
