Normally, I work for 7-8 hours per day, but there is not really a standard time schedule. When experiments are going well, you do not leave! 🙂

      Hi Georgina,

It very much varies from day to day depending on what experiments I have going on! Normally I will be doing an 8 hour day– but some days I might stay later to get more done or my experiment is a long one that requires me to take a sample 12 hours after I’ve started it. The longest I’ve ever been in the lab was from 6am until 11pm!

I usually work around 8 hours a day, but often have to do a bit more later on in the evenings and sometimes stay late to run experiments.

I usually get to the lab at 9.30am and on average leave somewhere between 6 and 7pm. I usually work 8-9 hours over the weekend too. However, this can depend on how I’m feeling, how the experiments are feeling and what time of the year it is. For instance, if I have an important meeting that I have to work towards I might work more hours, but then during summer or christmas I might work a little less so that I can enjoy those times!

      Hi Georgina,

As a scientist in industry I am contracted to work 40 hours per week (usually Monday to Friday’s). My working day starts at 8.30 and ends at 5.30.
