Emotions like love are carried out by the limbic system, which is located at the bottom right and left part of our brains. The limbic system consists of many parts, such as the amygdala, the hypothalamus, the hippocampus and others. Scientists have shown that the amygdala is responsible for emotions like love, fear, anger and desire. The hippocampus on the other hand stores information about emotions that are related to memories (for example if we see a person, we know that we love him/her) and passes it to the amydgala. The hypothalamus controls the levels of emotions (how much we love someone/something) and also passes this information to the amydgala. Other parts of the limbic system control our reaction to love (such as anxiety) and which hormones will be produced as a result of love (mostly dopamine).
