      To reach the best leaves high up in the trees. They evolved that way.

      Long time ago, giraffes didn’t have long necks! They had to compete for the lower leaves with other animals, such as antelopes and elephants. Gradually giraffes were born with slightly longer necks and they were able to reach the juicier leaves.
